When to Call an Engineer

Damaged Property? Get a Clear, Professional Read Before the Rebuild Starts.

Surface damage is easy to see; structural damage often isn't. Before you sign a restoration contract, a licensed engineer can tell you what's visibly affected — and give you a clear, documented plan.

  • After a flood, burst pipe, or ongoing leak
  • After a fire — including firefighting-water effects
  • After a tree or limb hits the roof
  • Partial collapse, sagging, or a punctured roof
  • When your insurer needs documentation of the damage
  • Before committing to a repair scope or contractor
Licensed engineer inspecting structural damage during an on-site assessment

Every damage inspection is an on-site visual assessment by a licensed engineer. Need precise documentation? 3D LiDAR scanning is available as a separate, fast-turnaround add-on.

Transparent Pricing

Clear, Flat Pricing for a Single-Family Home

No surprises. Here's what a typical single-family inspection costs.

$800

Walk-Through Inspection

On-site visual walk-through of a typical single-family home — foundations, floor joists & rim boards, framing, load-bearing walls, and roof trusses that are readily visible and accessible — with a verbal report and recommendations during the visit.

$1,500

Written Report

A formal, documented report (photos, findings, and recommendations) for insurance, legal, permitting, or other purposes — PE-stamped where required.

What the walk-through is — and isn't

The walk-through is a limited, visual, non-invasive structural inspection — we assess only what is readily visible and accessible. It does not include destructive or invasive investigation (no cutting, coring, or opening of finishes), testing, or evaluation of concealed, hidden, or inaccessible conditions, and it is not a home inspection, code-compliance certification, warranty, or guarantee. Findings are based on conditions observed at the time of the visit. Anything beyond the walk-through — a written report, 3D LiDAR scanning, repair-design drawings, or further investigation — is a separate, optional service, quoted separately. If a situation calls for expertise outside our scope, we'll say so and refer you to the right specialist — we don't take on work we can't deliver.

Larger or more complex? These are our standard fees for a single-family home within the described scope. For larger properties, commercial buildings, complex damage, or additional services such as full 3D LiDAR modeling or detailed repair plans, send us your scope of work and we'll prepare a precise proposal within 24 hours.

"As a remodeling contractor, having a structural engineer I can actually count on makes all the difference, and that's exactly what we've had with Marcelo and George at Lebra Engineering & Design. We've worked with them for over three years and they're our go-to on every project that needs structural support. They're responsive, efficient, and — most importantly — genuinely available when we need them. Remodels never go exactly to plan, and more than once we've hit a surprise after demo that meant rethinking the structural approach. Every time, Marcelo and George have jumped in quickly to help us modify the plan and keep the job moving. That kind of reliability is hard to find. Highly recommend them to any contractor or homeowner who needs structural engineering done right."

"Efficient and Effective Load-Bearing Wall Removal I recently hired Lebra Engineering to design a steel beam for a load-bearing wall removal project with a 26' - 6" span. I was thoroughly impressed with their service from start to finish. They prepared the necessary drawings and calculation reports for my building permit application with remarkable efficiency. Within a few short days, I had all the documentation I needed. Their work was professional, accurate, and clearly demonstrated their expertise in structural engineering. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lebra Engineering to anyone needing structural design services. Their combination of speed, quality, and expertise made the entire process smooth and stress-free."

Damage Inspection FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you inspect after damage?
Urgent safety concerns — like a tree through the roof — get priority scheduling. We give you a clear timeline at intake and offer rush turnaround.
Do you do the repairs yourselves?
We design the structural repairs with PE-stamped drawings and refer you to a trusted Massachusetts contractor who performs the work. We don't do the construction ourselves.
Do you determine what caused the fire?
No — fire cause and origin is a certified fire investigator's role. We assess and document the structural damage after a fire.
Do you test for mold?
No. We assess the structural effects of moisture, such as rot and corrosion, and can refer you to an industrial hygienist for air-quality or mold testing.
Will your report work for my insurance claim?
Yes. Our assessments are PE-stamped and documented for adjusters and building officials. Optional 3D LiDAR scanning is available separately if precise documentation is needed.
I'm a contractor or adjuster — can you assess a client's property?
Yes. We're a fast, reliable structural partner for restoration and roofing contractors and for insurance adjusters. Use the form and tell us the details.
Is 3D LiDAR scanning included in the price?
No. The $800 walk-through and $1,500 written report don't include 3D LiDAR scanning. We offer it as a separate service and can turn around a scanning proposal quickly when you need precise documentation.
What does the walk-through cover — and what are its limits?
It's a limited, visual, non-invasive inspection of readily visible and accessible areas. We don't open finishes, probe, or evaluate concealed or inaccessible conditions, and it isn't a home inspection, code certification, or warranty. Anything beyond the walk-through — a written report, 3D LiDAR, or repair drawings — is a separate, optional service.
