When to Call an Engineer

Damaged Property? Know It's Safe Before the Rebuild Starts.

Surface damage is easy to see; structural damage often isn't. Before you sign a restoration contract, a licensed engineer can tell you what's actually affected — and give you a clear, documented plan.

  • After a flood, burst pipe, or ongoing leak
  • After a fire — including firefighting-water effects
  • After a tree or limb hits the roof
  • Partial collapse, sagging, or a punctured roof
  • When your insurer needs documentation of the damage
  • Before committing to a repair scope or contractor

"As a remodeling contractor, having a structural engineer I can actually count on makes all the difference, and that's exactly what we've had with Marcelo and George at Lebra Engineering & Design. We've worked with them for over three years and they're our go-to on every project that needs structural support. They're responsive, efficient, and — most importantly — genuinely available when we need them. Remodels never go exactly to plan, and more than once we've hit a surprise after demo that meant rethinking the structural approach. Every time, Marcelo and George have jumped in quickly to help us modify the plan and keep the job moving. That kind of reliability is hard to find. Highly recommend them to any contractor or homeowner who needs structural engineering done right."

Damage Inspection FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you inspect after damage?
Urgent safety concerns — like a tree through the roof — get priority scheduling. We give you a clear timeline at intake and offer rush turnaround.
Do you do the repairs yourselves?
We design the structural repairs with PE-stamped drawings and refer you to a trusted Massachusetts contractor who performs the work. We don't do the construction ourselves.
Do you determine what caused the fire?
No — fire cause and origin is a certified fire investigator's role. We assess and document the structural damage after a fire.
Do you test for mold?
No. We assess the structural effects of moisture, such as rot and corrosion, and can refer you to an industrial hygienist for air-quality or mold testing.
Will your report work for my insurance claim?
Yes. Our assessments are PE-stamped and documented for adjusters and building officials, with 3D scan documentation where useful.
I'm a contractor or adjuster — can you assess a client's property?
Yes. We're a fast, reliable structural partner for restoration and roofing contractors and for insurance adjusters. Use the form and tell us the details.
